Dark Circles Under Eyes
Dark circles under the eyes, sometimes called shadows or dark rings, are the appearance of dark skin between the lower eyelid and the top of the cheek. Dark circles under the eyes can occur in all ages.
As we age dark circles form as a result of loosening collagen, fat, elastin and muscle which increases the appearance of dark circles. Over exposure to the sun also contributes to dark circles under eyes because the skin in that area of the face is very thin and the effects of ageing and the sun seem to show up more. This can become unflattering which is why all dark circles under the eyes should be taken seriously.
Injecting dermal filler under the eyes, in many cases can improve the cosmetic appearance. At Mackay Skin Clinic we also have a range of skin lighteners that may be of benefit.
A consultation with our Doctor or one of our trained Nurses is required for assessment. At this appointment we will provide you with an opinion and a realistic treatment plan.
